Creative Primary Workshops

Bring creativity into the classroom with our FREE online festive workshops aimed at Primary pupils.

During the weeks of the 29th November and 6th December we are offering a series of creative one-hour workshops delivered online via zoom.

To enable your class to take part, you will need to have access to a computer or device with Zoom installed and connected to your interactive whiteboard/projector. (Additional equipment/resources required is listed for each workshop below).

Workshops will be provided on a “first come first served” basis. See below for more information and links to book. Some workshops may require a short activity to be completed prior to the live Zoom class session. Further information and guidance will be provided once you have secured your place.

Please note: Each workshop has two dates to choose from. Please only apply for one date for your class.

MON 29 NOV, 10-11am

In this hour-long online session, pupils will first learn about the basic principles of animation––for example, what is meant by the terms ‘Frames Per Second’ and ‘Illusion of Movement’––then, armed with all this new knowledge, they will create their very own festive-themed animation using Brush Ninja, a free and easy-to-use browser-based animation program for putting your animation skills into practice.
This workshop is suitable for P5 – P7 classes

Equipment needed: Pen & paper to sketch ideas (optional); An Internet-capable device to access the Brush Ninja website. (iPads and SmartPhones work well, but you might prefer to use a device with a keyboard and mouse).

TUE 30 NOV, 10-11am

Join us and start your own musical adventure! This workshop will take your class on a tour around Chrome Music Lab, free online software that helps you learn about music and sound, and a fun way to start making your own music.

We’ll start with some music and listening activities, match different musical styles with different moods, look at how art can be used to make music, and talk about the ‘elements of music’  – everything you need to help you get started on your musical journey.  We will then show you the features of ‘Song Maker’ and how to use this tool to make your very own music. We’ll think about how to choose instruments, create rhythms, write melodies, and how to complete your composition.
This workshop is suitable for P3 – P7 classes

Equipment needed: A device with Internet access and the Chrome browser installed (1 per pupil if possible), headphones (optional).

THU 2 DEC OR THU 9 DEC, 10-11am

Join us as we learn the ins and outs of Adobe Spark Post and create our own personalised digital seasons greeting card that you can send to your friends and family.

You will learn how to combine images, use layers, remove backgrounds and create professional looking text to make your digital card stand out from the crowd. You can even add a picture of yourself into the card to make it even more personalised. We will then show you how to add animations and finally export as a video or an image to share with family and friends.
