Primary Schools Workshops

Bring creativity into the classroom with our FREE online workshops aimed at KS2 pupils.

Throughout May and June we are offering a series of creative one-hour workshops delivered online via zoom. To enable your class to take part, you will need to have access to a computer or device with Zoom installed and connected to your interactive whiteboard/projector
(Additional equipment/resources required is listed for each workshop below).

Workshops will be provided on a “first come first served” basis. See below for more information and links to book. (Please note that some workshops are still to be released, so keep an eye on the website and social media).

Some workshops may require a short activity to be completed prior to the live Zoom class session. Further information and guidance will be provided once you have secured your place.

ANIMATING WITH BRUSH NINJA

In this virtual lesson, pupils will learn the basic principles of animation—from understanding the concept of ‘Frames Per Second,’ to learning about different animation techniques. With a grounding in animation theory they will then create their own practical animation using Brush Ninja, a browser-based animation program that makes it easy to put your animation skills into practice.

Equipment needed: Pen & paper to sketch ideas (optional); A device to access Brush Ninja online. iPads and tablets work well, but you might prefer to use a device with a keyboard and mouse

FRIDAY 11th JUNE // 9.30-10.30am

MUSIC MAKING IN CHROME MUSIC LABS

Join us and start your own musical adventure! This workshop will take you on a tour around Chrome Music Lab, free online software that helps you learn about music and sound, and a fun way to start making your own music. Create a soundtrack for a film or game, a theme tune for your favourite character, or any kind of music you like, it’s up to you!

We’ll start with some music and listening activities, match different musical styles with different moods, look at how art can be used to make music, and talk about the ‘elements of music’ – everything you need to help you get started on your musical journey.

We will then show you the features of ‘Song Maker’ and how to use this tool to make your very own music. We’ll think about how to choose instruments, create rhythms, write melodies, and how to complete your composition.

Equipment needed:
– Any device with internet access (1 per pupil if possible)
– Google Chrome browser installed (Chrome Music Lab works best in this browser)
– Headphones (optional)
