Raising Literacy Attainment Through Film is a 6-week twilight course delivered in partnership with Into Film and Nerve Belfast. Starting on 20th September, the course will give primary teachers the knowledge, skills and confidence to use film as a tool for raising literacy attainment in the classroom. Each week will focus on a different element of Into Film’s analysis framework, the 3Cs and 3Ss (Camera, Character, Colour, Sound Setting and Story) and will include primary-level film analysis and filmmaking training (using iPads), and opportunities to try out suggested classroom activities and supporting resources. In Session 6, teachers will bring together all their learning and create a short curricular film to have as a resource for taking back to the classroom.
Each session will have time dedicated to peer sharing and supported lesson planning. An online sharing platform will be made available to continue the sharing of good practice during, and upon completion of the course.
Raising Literacy Attainment Through Film is suitable for Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 teachers, and will take place at Nerve Belfast.
Your £15 covers the cost of all six sessions, and you are strongly encouraged to attend all sessions in the course. All sessions run from 16:00 – 18:00.
