Young Filmmakers Attention Please!
We are looking for committed, talented young people between the age of 16 and 19 to be part of the BFI Film Academy 2014/15 Network Programme delivered by Nerve Belfast Creative Learning Centre.
As a BFI Film Academy participant you will work with filmmakers and take part in a series of masterclasses and workshops with industry professionals, hear their top tips on how to get into and succeed in the film industry, get practice in developing and pitching your ideas and produce your own work. You’ll discuss films from around the world and learn more about distribution, film-festivals and programming. By the end of the course you will have produced a short film.

Registration day – 22 October 4:30 – 5:30pm
Course Commences – 27- 29 October 2014 (intensive 3 day induction)
Each Saturday – 8 November 2014 – 28 February 2015
Location Shoots – February term break 2015
You will need to make sure that you can attend all these dates before signing up.
Additional days may occur after school hours or during term breaks to meet the deadlines of the course.

Accreditation: You will work towards gaining a Silver Arts Award. The Arts Award is a recognised qualification amongst employers, universities and colleges. To achieve the Award during the Film Academy, you’ll be required to plan your work and create and maintain your own portfolio and this may require some work outside of course hours. Costs: The cost to participate in the BFI Film Academy delivered by the Nerve Centre is £25, refundable in full upon successful completion of the course.
Bursaries will also be made available if you require assistance with travel, child care or other costs.
Eligibility: You need to be between the ages of 16 and 19 on the first day of the Academy programme. You must be a UK resident and able to commit to the programme for its duration.
